A travel discovery platform built for my Capstone Project

Atlas Homepage

Project Overview

Atlas is a travel discovery website that helps users explore flights, stays, restaurants, and things to do — all in one place. Built as my Capstone Project at Lake Superior College, Atlas focuses on clean UI, intuitive navigation, and responsive design.

Development Timeline

Week 1 - Planning and Mockup

Created initial layout, goals, and core features. Used Adobe Illustrator to then create a full mockup design and used Clickup to prepare a timeline for the project.

Week 2 - Building the Layout

Developed the header, footer, and home page layout using HTML, Bootstrap, and CSS and began setting up the backbone of the other pages.

Week 3 - API Connetions

Set up API connections to begin populating information on user input including implementing autocomplete on the home page. Also began working on the Overview page and wrapping up the Restaurant page.

Week 4 - Building Out the Pages

Continued working on building out the pages to the site including the Overview page and the Things to Do page.

Week 5 - The Flight Data and Finishing Up

Worked with a separate API for the flight data that brought new challenges and some limitations but strengthened my confidence and abilities. Overall, managed to finish the Overview and flights page and create a clean, responsive site with direct information the user wants most.

Final Website

Atlas is fully responsive with pages for flights, stays, restaurants, and things to do.

Reflection

This project strengthened my PHP and API skills, improved my UI/UX design approach, and taught me how to structure a full multi-page website from scratch. I'm especially proud of the clean layout and responsive design.
